He wants to be the next US president,and this is a "must do" for any top US politician these days.I don't think obama's visit to this jewish shrine is for paying respect,but it has political motives.When Israel is behind him,he is surely the next man in the white house.

The alliance between the USA and Israel does seem to be absolute now...and I agree he has to keep the Jewish vote on his side otherwise he doesn't stand an earthly of winning...bad business all round...if the USA doesn't criticize what they're doing, nobody else can because nobody else will be listened to...GBHs..
