  • Brick in the pyramid

Is any of us individual or independant. I doubt that. Our lives are continuously influenced by people we know or dont know. This happens all the time, whether we want it or not. If iran fires missiles, the oil prices go up,and i pay for it,even if i damn care about world politics. If some scientist in a secret laboratory in USA does not do his job propperly, and leaks out some viruses..i may be the victim of his neglect as i may get SARS or Mad Cow disease. Even if i am a sheep herderes somewhere in Bhutan and know nothing about the rest of the world,my life will be effcted by the climate change caused by pollution. If some gang in columbia wants more money and smuggles drugs,it may end up in my neighbourhood, and cause crimes and unrest. Is there any way i can be immune to the deeds of other human beings? Dont think so. We all have effects on each other.

  • Lets set the sun on fire

    Just a thought :lalala:

    and sell freezers in Antarctica.
or may be teach dolphins how to swim.

Even then i will be more logical than many of the so called leaders and politicians.

George wooky bush,Iranian and israeli prime ministers, and the leaders of hizbolla...All of them are invited to kiss my donkey arse.
It will be a privilege....Not for me,but for them.

  • Comfort of the armchair

From a desert outpost northwest of Las Vegas, elite fighter pilots journey to a war zone in Afghanistan, some 7,500 miles away.

It might be the world's longest commute, except that these armchair pilots at Creech Air Force Base in Nevada never leave the air-conditioned comfort of their command center.

  • How to turn your PC into a Blu-ray player

As far as i know, currently Blu-ray players are expensive. The minimum price i could find on the internet was 200 Pounds. But then,it's a dumb Blu-ray player which can't do anything else.
There is a way to play Blu-Ray discs on your PC.There are some technical issues though.
You ned a Blu-ray drive which looks same as the DVD drive in your computer and costs around 100 pounds. Then you need an HDCP compliant graphics card.
All Nvidia geforce 8000 series cards are HDCP compliant, examples are geforce 8400,8500,8800 etc.But ATI cards are cheaper and better at Blu-ray and all other HD content playback. All ATI radeon HD2000 and HD3000 series cards are HDCP compliant, and can play bak Blu-ray discs.
These cards start at around 30 pounds.
The next thing you need is good Blu-ray playing software on your PC.Windows media player does not support HD playback, may be with windows vista it does, but can be buggy.Powerdvd 8 is a well known software and can be bought for around 30 pounds, and it works a treat.
The only problem is that although all the graphics cards i mentioned above give out full High definition vidoe signal but may or may not give sound output. You will have to use a separate sound connection with your computer's sound card. You can use seperate speakers,or plug in the sound output of your computer's sound card in your HDTV.This way you will use two seperate cables, one HDMI or DVI for video, and an SPDIF or normal sound cable for sound output. And now you can watch Blu-ray disks or HD-DVD on your PC,and can connect your PC directly to your HD ready TV.
    Any questions?or answers? :)
