A horse eats a lorry load of hay a week, it creates enough poo to fill a six yard skip once a fortnight, you'll need a saddle plus all riding gear, you know riding breeches and a whip and all that and have you seen the price of vets fees lately, you'll need to build a stable and employ a girl to groom the damn thing, when you're out on the highway people like me will be cursing you for holding us up and stopping us from earning a living and then there's the Farrier to be paid, if the thing brakes down you can't call the AA, they don't do horses, forget the horse just walk.

Disregarding the initial cost of buying a horse (about a grand) the upkeep would amount to.
A stabled horse would cost £3,300-£4,950 a year
A horse in the field would cost £2,057-£2,710 a year
The Average horse can travel between 25 and 30 miles a day.
That's 45p a mile
The average car is 22p a mile.-

You still need to feed it for the horse to have energy!
