Plasma stealth
@ 2007-10-21 – 12:08:33
The soviet union developed this technology somewhere in the 1970's.
Plasma stealth is a proposed process that uses ionized gas (plasma) to reduce the radar cross section (RCS) of an aircraft. Interactions between electromagnetic radiation and ionized gas have been extensively studied for a variety of purposes, including the possible concealment of aircraft from radar that plasma stealth theorizes. While it is theoretically possible to reduce an aircraft's RCS by wrapping the airframe in plasma, it may be very difficult to do so in practice. Various methods might plausibly be able to produce a layer or cloud of plasma around an airframe, from "simple" electrostatic or RF discharges to more exotic possibilities like laser-produced plasmas.
Despite the apparent technical difficulty of designing a plasma stealth device for combat aircraft, there are claims that a system was offered for export by Russia in 1999.
This is a simple technology that could transform civil aviation, slashing fuel consumption, reducing greenhouse emissions and cutting noise. The problem is, nobody knows about it – yet. It's a military secret.
Plasma aerodynamics offers tantalizing promises of improving aircraft performance. By producing a thin layer of charged particles around an aircraft you can change the behavior of the boundary layer, significantly reducing friction. The charged layer also absorbs radar, improving stealth.
It also offers real benefits, with a potential drag reduction of up to 30%.
A cut in drag of 1 per cent means you can increase an airliner's payload by about 10 per cent, or it could simply fly farther or faster.
No complex curves, and no ultra expensive radar absorbing materials.
The process that uses ionized gas (plasma) to reduce the radar cross section (RCS) of an aircraft. A plasma stream is injected in front of the aircraft covering the entire body of the aircraft and absorbing most of the electromagnetic energy of the radar waves, thus making the aircraft difficult to detect.
During the cold war certain UFO sightings were infact Plasma coated soviet spy airships, that were large enough to house a nuclear reactor inside them to produce large amount of plasma around them.
This explains why the military radars did not see them.

Price tag $276.5bn (£140bn)
@ 2007-10-21 – 11:22:37
The $276.5bn (£140bn) Anglo-American stealth fighter project will supply the armed forces of the US, Britain and several other countries.
The US will account for the lion's share of the Lockheed Martin-designed plane, with 2,400 in service by 2027.
Britain's BAE Systems is one of the key players in the aircraft's development.
BAE has pumped $2bn into the project, with the UK expected to take delivery of 138 fighters.
Now i know where the world's wealth is being used.

Did you brush your teeth this morning?
@ 2007-10-21 – 10:51:01
Legend:::Dentists have recommended that a toothbrush be kept at least six feet away from a toilet to avoid airborne particles resulting from the flush.
Conclusion::Mostly true
Reason::::There’s plenty of evidence that a toilet flush will propel germs into the air. The Clorox Company says germs can be spread “around your bathroom – on your sink, towels, even your toothbrush.”
But who exactly are these dentists, and why six feet? No sources on toothbrush hygiene, including the American Dental Association, go on record with a specific distance.

Time to change my broadband
@ 2007-10-21 – 08:11:52
Been with Tiscali for the last year, and was with AOL before that.I am a heavy user, and always get warnings from the ISP regarding their fair use policy.AOL are a bit expensive, but they don't issue any warnings on heavy usage, instead they limited my bandwidth during peak hours.
Yesterday i rang up virgin broadband, they are new and a bit cheaper than others. If i was living in London,i had to choose from a few dozen of ISP,but since i live in a small northern city of Preston, there are about 7 ISP available here.
So lets see,how it goes. They will connect me,sometimes next week
Its 24 meg,and hopefully it will be fast.
My previous experience with ISP is not so good.AOL said that their line is 1meg,but in a full year with them,my download speed never exceeded 125Kbps.Same story with Tiscaly, they claimed that their line is 2meg but it never exceeded 230Kbps of download speed.Uploads are always slower.
My highest upload speed with tscali's so called 2 meg line was 31Kbps.
Liers,aren't they?
