A friend of mine went to the cash machine to check his balance and saw that there are 3500 pounds in his account. He has a basic account with no credit/debit cards or overdraft facility .He went to the counter showed his ID and withdrew 3500 pounds.
As per his knowledge he had 500 pounds in his account, but since the cashier confirmed that he has 3500 pounds in the account he went ahead with the transaction.
Happy but surprised he came home, told nothing to anybody. The next day he received a letter from His bank that he is 3000 pounds overdrawn and need to come to the bank and talk about it. He went to the bank, and they led him to the manager. The manager straight away asked for his bank card, when he handed over the bank card to her, she asked him to go home and bring back the money he had withdrawn the previous day, and give it back to the bank. He showed her the cash point print out that the system was showing this amount of money, and he re-confirmed it with the cashier and then withdraw it, and that it’s not his fault.
The manager refused to return his card and insisted that he should go home, and bring the money back. He left the bank, went home and came back with the money, on the bank’s entrance he printed a mini statement from the cash point, and to his surprise the bank had done fake transactions to and from his account during the time he was away.
They had used his bank card to manipulate transactions from his account, to cover up their error.
He went to the bank manager and asked for an explanation, but she did not give any.
He did not return the money, and now is looking for a lawyer to prosecute the bank for fraud.
They hold our money, but the are not always honest.
To this date safriz owes no money to any body, not even the bank.
