Before the end of USSR in 1991,the soviets were keen to propagate their ideology.
Pakistan has always been a country with large population of practicing Muslims.During the cold war Pakistan was with the capitalist block,and was an important ally of USA.
In the mid eighties,USSR opened it's doors for Pakistani students.
Young men and women looking for a degree in engineering subjects,showed a lot of interest in Soviet universities,as they were much cheaper than the western Universities,and USSR was a technological giant.
Students from Pakistan,went to USSR in thousands,for studying Hi-Fi subjects,such as Satellite engineering,Aerospace engineering and all of them had to take a one year Russian language course.
While their stay in the USSR,they were given an extensive insight of communism.Almost all of them met a kind opposite sex,who made them to fall in love,and then listen to his/her communist thoughts.
Strangely enough,most of the Pakistani students,when used to come back home after completion of their course were no more Muslims.
All their views and ideology used to be completely changes on coming back home from a Soviet University.
Apparently,the Pakistani youth going to Soviet universities were being brain washed by the Communists,and they were mostly successful in changing their thoughts completely.
There is a noticeable population of Pakistani communists in the city of Peshawar.This city is near the border of Afghanistan,and most Taliban spent their childhoods in this city's religious schools.
The communist party still exists there and they got quite a few members.
